Living with diabetes can seem daunting, but it doesn't have to be.
Following just a few tips can help you stay energized, healthy and thriving:
THINK BEFORE YOU EAT
Ask: Am I hungry, tired, anxious, bored? Eat only if hungry. Address other issues with non-food solutions.
MOVE MORE
Find ways to use your body all day long that bring you joy. Chair dancing, exercise in water or on land, on your feet, on a bike, or machine.
EAT MORE WHOLE FOODS
Plan ahead and do some food prep on the weekend. The best foods come in their own packages. Know what you are eating—read labels!
EAT MORE FIBER
CHEW FOODS SLOWLY
PAY ATTENTION TO WHEN YOU ARE FULL
MAKE YOUR BEVERAGE CALORIE FREE
Some great options include unsweetened iced tea and sparkling water.
HAVE WAYS TO DEAL WITH STRESS
Food is not the solution. Excercise, hang out with friends, watch the sunset, meditate using guided imagery, use tapping, or pray. We can only control ourselves and our attitude.
LEARN TO SAY NO!
Do what is right for you! Overeating can easily be caused by anxiety and a need for control when we don't feel it in other areas of our life. Practice, practice!
